Running Mate, the unique runshare app dedicated to ending violence against female runners, successfully hosted a Glow-in-the-Dark Run on August 28 at Atlanta’s iconic Piedmont Park. The event drew nearly 200 runners and walkers who lit up the park in a vibrant display of solidarity and commitment to runner safety.

The event was supported by an impressive lineup of sponsors, including On, Big Peach, Hoka, Turn, Orange Theory, SweatHouz, Athlete's Potential, Pink Barre and the Dunwoody Police Department.

Their contributions ensured that the participants had a fun and memorable experience. Following the run, attendees celebrated at a post-party event held at Park Tavern, where the community came together to discuss the importance of runner safety and the impact of Running Mate's mission.

“We are thrilled with the turnout and the community’s support,” says Dena Lewis, founder of Running Mate. “This event was more than just a run; it was a powerful statement that we are united in our efforts to make running safe for everyone, especially women. The energy and enthusiasm from our participants and sponsors alike have been incredible, and we’re excited to continue our work in Atlanta.”

Running Mate, often described as the "Uber for runners," offers real-time, on-demand access to verified running companions, or “mates,” who undergo thorough background checks to ensure safety. As the app begins activating mates in Atlanta, Running Mate is committed to creating a safe running environment and ending violence, harassment, and assault against runners.

The Glow-in-the-Dark Run marks the beginning of Running Mate’s activation in the Atlanta area, and the organization looks forward to hosting more events to engage and empower the local running community.

Founded by Dena Lewis after surviving two assaults while running, Running Mate is on a mission to make running safe for everyone. The app connects runners with verified, compensated running mates for secure and enjoyable runs, anytime, anywhere. Running Mate is committed to providing the world with a safe running experience.
