Tom Griffen
Tom Griffen is the founder of TG Training & Education, a consulting agency that delivers dynamic training content and coaching services to businesses and individuals looking to raise the bar. His vast knowledge in specialty run comes from an 8-year tenure with Fleet Feet where his role evolved from floor staffer to store operator, and eventually to the organization’s National Director of Training. Tom left Fleet Feet to get a Master’s degree in creative writing, after which he began his own educational group to marry together the things he loves the most—people development, travel, and training content creation. Though he works predominately with run retailers, his keynote and workshop offerings are applicable wherever stellar service and human connection is a strategic focus.
After a 4-year enlistment in the Army, Tom had a career as a middle and high school special education teacher. These days Tom moonlights as a writer, artist, and adventurer. In 2018 he walked across America. His book, With a Good Heart: A Journey of Kindness Across America, is forthcoming. Tom is a regular contributor to Running Insight magazine with more than 30 published articles. Though he no longer calls himself a runner, he unabashedly wears his Western States silver buckle to keep his pants up.
Tom enjoys a good shot of espresso, a quality pilsner, and cowboy movies. In his free time he carves artful, yet useless wooden spoons—he’ll carve you one for fifty bucks. Tom currently lives in Carrboro, North Carolina. Visit www.tomgriffen.com.
